Crop Management Partners have been made aware that Pesticide Enforcement Officer visits are starting to take place on farms across the country as part of the Official Controls (OCR) Regulations 2020. We know this has been covered in NRoSO meetings over recent years, but we thought we would highlight some of the requirements and links to further information to help you to prepare.
The aim of the visit is to check how users of pesticides are complying with their duties under the plant protection product law.
Visits will focus on:
- Suitability of the chemical store, compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, emergency procedures, etc.
- Compliance of the pesticides / Plant Protection Products in the store and in use (storage requirements, authorisation status, usage in accordance with label).
- Certification of persons engaged in storage and use (PA certificates, etc).
- Records of application of Plant Protection Products / records of equipment inspections including any statutory inspections and professional user calibration records.
- Compliance with Employer’s Liability Compulsory Insurance.
The officer may give advice, verbally or in writing, about some improvements the business could make to comply with plant protection product law and general health and safety law.
