First Six Months in Agronomy: Lessons from the Field

6 months into his career with Crop Management Partners, we’ve caught up with Ben to find out how he’s getting on.

“Starting out in agronomy comes with a steep learning curve but that’s all part of the journey.

In my first six months, one of the biggest challenges has been keeping track of notes across multiple farms and fields. Building a clear picture of each farm takes time, and staying organised is key so I can refer back to those details on future visits and make informed decisions.

One thing that’s really surprised me is just how collaborative the industry is. Despite lone working, Agronomists don’t really work in isolation, there’s a strong sense of teamwork, with people constantly sharing knowledge to deliver the best possible service for clients. The independent network, in particular are very supportive.

Passing BASIS has definitely been a highlight. It’s a big milestone and a great step forward in my career.

I’m still learning and being challenged every day but that’s what makes it so rewarding”.

Congratulations to Ben for passing his Basis exams!
